VS. Theatre Company was founded in 2003, by two individuals — Kimberly-Rose Wolter and Johnny Clark — whose passion for live performance and quality theatre brought them together. Feeling that the Los Angeles theatre community was under served, especially in terms of original or rarely seen work, the two decided to form their own theatre production company.

Their goal is to do three productions per year. We believe theatre as it exists today is stale. Other than Broadway musicals and star-studded productions, it ‘s no secret that a large percentage of the American population is unwilling to pay to see live theatre. “It’s boring” or “It feels like church” or “Why should I go when I can just see a movie?” are some of the consistent statements we hear when we talk to non-theater goers. Yet, in our opinion, the stage, (especially the small stage) is the single-most exciting artistic mode of expression around.

We want to take back the theatre. Our main objective is to entertain our audiences by selecting original, engaging, thought-provoking pieces. We want our audiences to have a great time at our shows, yes, but we also want them to be thinking about them a few days later.
